This year, the OAEP wine tour will return to the Columbia River Gorge to visit three excellent wineries : Marchesi Winery, Viento Winery, and WyEast Winery. 

Dr. Scott Burns, Emeritus Professor of Geology at Portland State University, a long-standing OAEP Board Member, and our resident Terroirist will host the annual tour.  Terroir is a French term used to describe the relationship between geology, soils, climate and the differences in wines.  It is a taste of the place.  Dr. Burns, who has been studying terroir since the 1970s.   

•    Time:  Leave 10:00 AM and return at 5:30 PM from 1721 SW Broadway.  
•    Cost per person: $55 (Price includes all tasting fees)
•    Bring your own picnic lunch and some water

Event Schedule –   

10:00 am: Leave from PSU, corner Broadway and Mill 

11:00 am - 1 pm: Marchesi Winery in Hood River - great selection of Italian style wines (Dolcetto, Barbera, etc) and eat your picnic lunches - special style wine tasting

1:15 pm - 3 pm: Viento Winery - Rich Cushman, most famous wine maker in the Gorge with a winemaking history in the region of greater than 30 years

3:20 pm - 5:00 pm: WyEast Winery - highest vineyards in Hood River Valley; Peter Cushman is the wine maker and is the son of Rich

5:00 pm - 6:00 pm: Arrive at 1721 SW Broadway Street

You will have a chance to buy wines at all of the wineries.  We are able to keep the wine tour fee low because our guests consistently support the wineries through wine purchases.
